Counseling is a process by which therapeutic change can occur in an environment where there is trust, 
empathy, and understanding. Within that context of the relationship clients are able to find their inner 
strengths, gain self-awareness, challenge irrational beliefs, discover individualized coping skills and establish 
new boundaries for themselves and others while letting go of their irrational beliefs that have brought them 
to that point. 
The typical length of the counseling relationship depends on the nature of the issues that the client presents 
and the frequency and timeliness that clients show up to their appointments. Every client is unique and there 
is no particular timeline for improvement or change unless the clients insurance allows only for a limited 
number of sessions with which the client will be notified prior to therapy.
